Spicy Lamb Turkish Bread

An easy lamb mixture that can be used in many ways.

We regularly have this mixture on Turkish bread but its great as a pizza topping, in filo parcels or served with couscous.

Spicy Lamb on Turkish Bread

Lamb mince with Turkish/Moroccan flavours

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 Small onion
  • 2 tsp Garlic crushed (2 Cloves)
  • 500 gm Lamb mince
  • 2 tsp Moroccan spice mix
  • 2 tsp Cumin, ground
  • 2 tsp Paprika, ground
  • 1 Tbsp Mint, chopped
  • 1 Carrot grated
  • 1 Zucchini
  • 1/3 cup Tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup Pine nuts
  • 1 Lg Turkish bread
  • 100 gm Soft fetta

Salsa

  • 1/2 Red onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 Punnet Cherry tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Parsley, Chopped
  • 1/2 cup Mint, Chopped
  • 1 Lemon, grated rind and juice
  • Pinch Salt
  • Pinch Black Pepper

Instructions
 

  • Heat oven 180 C
  • Toast pine nuts on oven tray in oven approximately 15 minutes, until golden
  • Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium heat, cook onion and garlic until softened, about 10 minutes
  • Add lamb, cook stirring about 10 minutes until browned and meat broken up
  • Add carrot and zucchini cook a few minutes, add spices cook a further 5 minutes.
  • Add pine nuts and mint cook a few minutes longer.
  • Spread tomato paste over Turkish bread then top with lamb mixture cook in oven 15 minutes
  • Serve sprinkled with salsa and crumbled fetta cheese.

Sala

  • Combine all salsa ingredients mix well and serve with lamb

Notes

This Lamb mixture is also delicious served as a pizza topping or as a filling for filo parcels.
Beetroot Hummus or Tzatziki also would be a great accompaniment.
