We all need dishes that are delicious, quick and easy to make, this Pork and Apple Tray bake ticks all those boxes and more.
Once you have layered the pork and apples in your oven tray and poured over the glaze all the work is done, you just pop it in the oven for 30-40 minutes until the pork is cooked. The flavours are delicious as the pairing of pork, apples and mustard is classic, it is perfect served simply with Mash and steamed greens.
It would be a great dish to serve for a dinner party as there isn’t any last minute fussing so you can enjoy your guests company.
Pork and Apple Tray Bake
Pork cooked on a bed of apples
Ingredients
- 4 Pork loin steaks or pork chops
- 2-3 Apples Peeled and sliced
- Pinch Salt
- Pinch Pepper
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon, divided
- 1/4 tsp Nutmeg, divided
Glaze
- 60 gm Butter
- 1 Tbsp Maple Syrup
- 1 tsp Dijon Mustard
- 1 tsp Seeded Mustard
- 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
Instructions
- Place the sliced apples in a greased oven proof dish or tray, sprinkle with half of the cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Place pork on top of the apple slices and season with salt and pepper.
- Preheat oven to 180 C.
Glaze
- In a medium saucepan over medium high heat, combine maple syrup, mustards, butter and brown sugar. Whisk until butter is melted and incorporated, then stir in the remaining cinnamon and nutmeg.
- You could thicken the glaze with 1/2 Tbsp of corn flour if you think it needs it.
- Pour the glaze over the pork and apples, bake for 30-40 minutes, or until pork os cooked.
- Serve with mash and steamed greens.
