Take your salads to another level with this delicious crunchy mix of nuts and seeds. A simple green salad takes on a new life with this topping.
It is very easy to substitute the nuts and spices to your liking.
Some members of our family have been known to eat this by the handful just as a snack and it can be very adictive.
Crunchy Seed and Nut Mix
A super crunchy seed and nut mix that is a delicious addition to any leafy salad
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup Slivered Almonds
- 1/3 cup Pepita's (Pumpkin Seeds)
- 1/3 cup Sunflower Seeds
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Seeds
- 1/3 cup Pine Nuts
- 1 tsp Ground Cumin
- 1/2 tsp Mild Curry Powder
- 1 tsp Dried Chilli powder Optional
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Maple Syrup
Instructions
- Place nuts, seeds and spices in a bowl, stir to combine
- Add sauce and syrup, stir until coated.
- Preheat oven 160 C
- Spread the nut mixture on to lined oven trays.
- Cook 10 minutes, stir then cook a further 5-10 minutes until browned.
- Remove from oven and cool on trays, they will crunch up on cooling.
- Store in an airtight container for up to a month.
Notes
Sprinkled over any leafy salad this is delicious.
Adding the optional chilli powder creates some heat but its still tasty without.
This is also delicious eaten as a snack.
