Asian Meatballs with Sweet & Sour Sauce
Asian flavoured meatballs served with a sweet and sour sauce

- 500 gm Mince, Beef, Pork or Chicken
- 1 tsp Garlic
- 1/4 tsp Chilli paste
- 2 tsp Ginger paste
- 1/2 Carrot, grated
- 1/2 Zucchini, grated
- 1/2 Cup Breadcrumbs
- 1 Egg
- 1/2 Cup Milk
- 1/2 tsp Sesame Oil
- Pinch Salt
- Pinch White pepper
Vegetables
- 1 tsp Sesame Oil
- 1 Onion, diced
- 1/2 Red Capsicum, diced
- 2 Stalks celery, diced
- 1 Carrot, sliced
Sweet & Sour Sauce
- 1/2 Cup Vinegar
- 3/4 Cup Sugar
- 4 Tbsp Tomato Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 tsp Garlic, crushed
- 2 tsp Corn Flour
- 1 Tbsp Water
- 1 Can Pineapple, Crushed or Pieces with juice
- Salt & Pepper to taste
In a large bowl soak breadcrumbs in milk for 15 minutes.
Add remaining ingredients, mixing until combined well, roll into balls and set in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
Cook meatballs in air fryer 180C for 10-12 minutes; or on a lined tray in the oven 180C 20-25 minutes; or fry in a pan until browned and cooked through.
In a fry pan cook the vegetables in the sesame oil, until softened slightly.
Combine the sauce ingredients in a jug mixing well, pour over the cooked vegetables and simmer 10 minutes.
Add the meatball to the sauce, stir to coat in the sauce simmer 5 minutes, and serve with steamed rice.
You could use the sauce portion of the recipe as a dipping sauce to serve with finger food, leaving our the vegetables.
Use any vegetables in the sauce and use chicken, pork or seafood instead of the meatballs.
