I remember spending cherished time baking with my Grand Mother in her small kitchenette in South Warrnambool.
There was always soup or a stew simmering on the wood stove and biscuits, scones, cake or a pudding baking in the oven. To this day the aroma of Lamb Shank soup brings back memories of her.
In my late 20’s I returned to full time study, studying Hospitality and Commercial Cookery for 3 years. I have worked in many aspects of the hospitality industry over the years, mainly cooking and catering, taking time out to parent my 2 children.
I currently run a home baking business Homemade by Wendy from our family Potato and Beef farm in the South West of Victoria, baking a range of biscuits, slices and cakes fresh to order.
I love reading about food and cooking, I have an obsession for cook books and food magazines, and I love imagining making the recipes and who I will share them with. I also love eating out, trying new dishes and sometimes trying to recreate what I have tried.
It’s time to share some of my much loved recipes with you, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
I am looking forward to sharing my love of food, cooking and recipes with you, I also hope you can pick up a few tips and tricks along the way as well that will make your time in the kitchen more enjoyable and easier. Whilst I don’t profess to be an expert I have plenty of hours experience in the kitchen.
I love cooking comfort food in all its guises:- Soups, Curries, Casseroles, Healthy Dishes, Delicious Salads, Cakes, Slices, Biscuits, Desserts. Foods that feed the soul.
My love of food has evolved over the years as I have, I now mostly cook family meals that are quick using staple ingredients that I have in the pantry and fridge. I enjoy creating new dishes and adaptations of favourites and I do still love creating special meals for family and friends occasionally though.
